NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Bellevue homeowner is in disbelief after he found a family living in his house.
His discovery landed three people behind bars. The trio is accused of causing nearly $150,000 in damage to the house.
“It’s bizarre because I’ve heard of this. You might see it in movies,” the home owner, who didn’t want to be identified for personal reasons, explained.
This, however, was no movie. It all happened at his house on Huntwick Trail, nestled on a hill and secluded by trees.
“This is my home; this is the place that I’m going to start a family,” he said.
The house was vacant and mostly empty when the owner stopped by, only to discover six people had moved in.
“They had padlocked my gate shut with their own lock, and when I went in to see what was going on, I see my tools laying in the yard; I see Jack-o-Lanterns on the front door step; I see the front deadbolt taken off my front door, hot tub covers off; the back gates are open and I’m like, ‘What’s going on?'”
The homeowner said three adults and three children, along with nearly a dozen animals, had made his home theirs.
“There were toiletries and bathroom products in all of our vanities. There were kitchen products in the kitchen. They hung art on the walls. There was furniture in places that furniture would go,” the homeowner said.
It appeared the group broke a window to get inside the home.
“They were fully in belief that they belong in this home. They were claiming that they established residency and this was their home and that they were not leaving. They were also claiming they had squatters rights, so clearly they had a plan coming into this. They felt like they knew what they were doing,” he said.
In the process, the homeowner said the group trashed his property by spray painting windows, breaking appliances, and leaving cat and dog feces scattered throughout the home.
“All the pets were defecating on the floor, urinating; there’s holes in the drywall, fist marks. You wouldn’t believe, I’m just at a loss for words,” the homeowner said.
An arrest affidavit said the suspects admitted they didn’t know who owned the home and knew it was vacant. The report said one of the suspects told officers God showed her a sign to stay there.
The homeowner said while he is angry and feels violated, it’s a sad situation.
“I’m just glad nobody got hurt and I’m glad justice was served and I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else, because it’s scary,” he said.
The homeowner was just there a week before and there was no sign of anyone gaining entry. He plans to continue on his renovations and install a security system.
Robert Reynolds and Brooke Livesay, both 27 years old, and 40-year-old Jason Hay were arrested. All are facing aggravated burglary charges.

Sperry’s Restaurant, a well-known Nashville steakhouse, has announced the opening of Cafe Sperry’s and Sperry’s Mercantile.
The concepts will open in Bellevue in March at 7745 Hwy 70 S. Located in the 6,000-square-foot space formerly occupied by Shoney’s, the new Sperry’s Mercantile will be the second outpost of the company’s market concept. Cafe Sperry’s is an entirely new venture that will bring a drive-thru and dine-in craft coffee shop to the neighborhood.
Sharing the same roof will also be a fulfillment center for Sperry's meats online, which will be a launching pad for the new e-commerce division that will ship meats and seafood, plus a variety of sides and gourmet items nationwide.
“As residents of Bellevue, my wife and I are excited to bring Sperry’s Mercantile and Cafe Sperry’s to the neighborhood,” says owner Al Thomas. “The opening couldn’t be more timely, aligning with the fiftieth anniversary of Sperry’s Restaurant, a milestone I am proud to hit as a second-generation family business owner.”
Sperry’s Mercantile in Bellevue will closely mirror the original market and butcher shop in Belle Meade, selling many of the same items served at Sperry’s Restaurant including quality meats and fresh seafood and their house-made signature sides, salad dressings, sauces, seasonings, and desserts. Curated grocery items will also be available including everything from locally-sourced eggs and produce to pantry staples like pastas, condiments, and spices. Customers can peruse the many offerings or order ahead for in-store pickup Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cafe Sperry’s will bring the first drive-thru craft coffee shop to Bellevue with a full coffee, tea, and espresso menu alongside sweet and savory pastries plus grab-n-go sandwiches and snacks. The decor will draw heavy inspiration from that of Sperry’s Restaurant. The cafe will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for dine-in or drive-thru service.

TriStar Centennial Medical Center has seven across Tennessee and Kentucky, but they're working to increase that number to 10.
The hospital system broke ground on a future ER in Bellevue in November, with the hope of a fall 2024 opening.
"It's as if you're taking the ER from Centennial and putting it in Bellevue," said Dr. Michael Hasty, who will be the future medical director of the Bellevue ER.
He knows Bellevue needs emergency services when it comes to the population and the distance from a main hospital.
"They're probably five to eight miles away from the closest emergency department," he said. "So if they're having a stroke or heart attack or in severe pain, they have a long way to travel."
He added Bellevue has seen a massive influx of people over 65 in the last 10 years. This means it's a population that may have more serious consequences if they have a fall or the flu.
"To be able to get them to our emergency department sooner, to get the medicines, to get the airway management, could be the difference of if they make it or not," he said.
The $16 million project, along Highway 70 South, off Interstate 40, will be open 24/7 and fully staffed with emergency-trained physicians and nurses, just like a regular hospital.
In addition to the Bellevue location, TriStar has two more freestanding ER plans in the works, in Nolensville and East Nashville, to become a reality in early 2025.

BELLEVUE, Tenn. (WZTV) - Animal groups are sounding the alarm after rescuing two dogs they say lived in horrible conditions.
One getting treatment at an animal hospital in Franklin isn't out of the woods yet.
A man who works with a pest control company says he made the first call for help in March after finding the animals caged at an apartment in Bellevue.
A tough sight to see, two dogs, named Bennet and Barrett just skin and bones.
KC Mason says he called animal control on Monday, telling officers what he found. Mason says he had called before, back in the spring, after working at the same apartment.
“The one, Bennet, he couldn't even lift his head or wag his tail or anything," Mason said.
Metro Animal Care and Control turned the animals over to Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue for intense treatment.
“It was very obvious that it was something that needed to be handled immediately, a life and death situation," Lavonne Redferrin with Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue said.
In a video shared with FOX 17 News, you can see animal control taking Bennet into their van.
“He only weighs 23 pounds, and he should weigh about 60. So that tells you the desperate situation that this was now,” Redferrin said.
Now, Bennet is on the mend, but not in the clear.
“He's had a long uphill battle, but today he was actually able to go out and walk," Redferrin said. "It's a very frightening scene to see him walk because he just looks like a walking skeleton, but he walked, he wagged his tail."
Barrett is now with a foster family, doing much better, but Mason says someone should have stepped in sooner.
"That's unacceptable, and like, that's got to be known, in my opinion, because if somebody can do that to an animal, there's no telling what they could do to a woman or a child or anyone else," Mason said.
Metro Animal Care and Control said they responded to eight calls for help in this case, citing the owner back in May.
Animal control tells FOX 17 News they are pursuing charges.
